DIPLOMA PROGRAM

Diploma in Indigenous Entrepreneurship (IndEnt)

The six-course Diploma in Indigenous Entrepreneurship is open to current post-secondary students who have at least one year of post-secondary education, or graduate students, who meet the admissions criteria for the University of Waterloo. Applications for the Diploma Program open in the spring of each year and typically close at the end of June. All applications are submitted through the University of Waterloo Application process.


Once accepted, you are officially a University of Waterloo student! The Diploma program is 6 courses, running from September to April every year. Students in the Diploma program will take the following courses:


INDENT 225 & 325

- A Practicum in Indigenous Entrepreneurship

- These capstone courses are designed to give students the tools and knowledge needed to either start a business or learn the fundamentals of Indigenous entrepreneurship.

- Taught by Ashley Richard

INDENT 200

- The Past, Present, and Future of Indigenous Entrepreneurship

- Taught by Wayne Garnons-Williams

INDENT 210

- The Fundamentals of Indigenous Entrepreneurship

- Taught by Odette Lara-Morales

INDENT 310

- Case Studies in Indigenous Venture Creation

- This course has a focus on strategic planning and design thinking. Students are given practical tools and skills to use strategic design to solve current challenges in Indigenous business. Case studies will be provided to the students. Students in the Diploma program have the option to use their own business venture for assignments with prior approval from the Director of Indigenous Entrepreneurship.

- Indigenous Economic Development Corporations

- Taught by Chloe McCorrister


All courses are taught online in both synchronous and asynchronous formatting. Tuition is paid through the University of Waterloo and scholarships are available for some students.
